About the Author:

This website is run and operated by ‘Junior’ (not his real name), an 11 year old Canadian boy. In this blog Junior will be doing product reviews of items that interest him, including children’s toys, children’s video games, ATV gear (junior has an ATV) and fishing equipment (Junior likes to fish).

Because the internet is a big place, all comments, emails, and other correspondence are monitored, filtered, screened and censored by me - Dad. If you need to contact Junior, you can do so at dad at wrcm.ca.

About the Blog:

The intention of the blog is to give Junior a bit of a part time job. It’s also intended to teach him about work in general, commitment, and customer service. Incidentally it’ll hopefully teach him a bit about project management, and enhance his writing skills. Of course, like all 11 year old boys, teaching any of that directly is pointless. Instead the ’stated’ purpose behind the blog is for Junior to get a bit of cash and some free toys. All he has to do is put in some effort on his product reviews (with the assurances that the better job he does on those reviews, the more interested other companies will be interested in his services) and follow some guidelines - and he gets free toys and some cash.  He will also be blogging about toys and items that he currently owns.

Advertisers and Companies Looking for Product Reviews:

Do you sell or market children’s toys? ATV equipment? Fishing supplies? or Video Games? Then you definitely want a product review on this site!

What you get:

  • Grassroots social exposure on the most virulent form of media available - blogs
  • The most grassroots of a review you can get, right from your market - an 11 year old boy. Written in his own words, this is the kind of honest review that other children and their parents are going to read. These reviews are far more potent than any professional journalist could provide.
  • Traffic. This blog gets natural exposure as it ranks in the search engines. Check out the front page rankings in Google for Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 and Boba Fett’s Slave 1. The search engines love this site - and when people search on these products, you just know they’re coming to read the review of an 11 year old boy.
  • Inexpensive advertising. Traditional media advertising costs thousands. For $50 and a sample product, you’ll get targetted direct exposure and grass roots advertising at a tenth or a hundredth of the cost of traditional media advertising.

Specifics of what you will get:

  • at least an hour will be spent on your product.
  • a prompt blog post with an honest review of your product.
  • the review will be at least 150 words and will contain at least one link directly to a relevant page on your website (perhaps a product description page, or your ecommerce page where people can buy the product)
  • the review will be written by an 11 year old boy. (And written in his own words. Guidance is provided in terms of the outline, but the actual review is written on his own.)
  • Part of what Junior is learning is how to put in an A+ effort into his work. ‘Dad’ assures you that his review will be monitored to ensure you receive that A+ effort.
  • Your review will remain live for at least one year.

How to Get a Product Review:

  • Send an email to dad at wrcm.ca from your company email address (so we know who it’s coming from). Let us know what company you’re with and what product you would like Junior to review.
  • We’ll review it (Junior and Dad) and as long as the product is age appropriate, he will generally accept the review. At that point Dad will provide you further details on the information needed to complete a review as well as the address to send your product sample and the review fee to (you will need to send 1 product sample and $50 for the review).

Product Review Pricing:

$50 per product reviewed, plus a sample product mailed to Junior.

Banner advertising:

Traditional advertising is available as well. The first location is above the fold in the top right corner. This section is split into four quadrants, top right and left, and bottom right and left. Static graphics/button advertising is available, though animated images are not.

The second location is below the fold in a vertical line down the right. These ads are text ads only, 3 lines per ad.
